What actually goes wrong.

Condenser packed solid with flour, grease and dust

The number one cause of commercial reach-in failure and the easiest to prevent. These condensers sit at floor or ceiling level in a working kitchen and pull in everything in the air. Once blocked, the unit runs continuously and still drifts warm.

Door gaskets destroyed by daily use

Commercial doors get opened hundreds of times a shift and hit with carts, trays and hips. A torn or flattened gasket lets warm kitchen air in around the clock, and the compressor never gets to cycle off.

Evaporator fan motor failing

Commercial refrigeration cools by moving air. When the evaporator fan weakens, product near the coil stays cold and product at the far end warms up — which gets reported as uneven cooling, not as a fan fault.

Prep table rail warming under heat lamps

A prep rail sits between refrigeration below and heat above. Blocked airflow, overfilled pans or pans that don't seat properly all push the rail out of food-safe range while the cabinet below reads fine.

Glass door merchandisers fogging

The anti-condensate heater around the glass has failed. Owners assume the seal has gone; usually the seal is fine and the heater circuit is not.

No clearance around the unit at all

Line equipment gets wedged into a slot the same width as the cabinet. Without clearance to breathe, even a perfectly healthy unit can't reject heat, and no repair will fix a spacing problem.

Reading a real fault. The low side is pulled into a vacuum while the head still holds 168 psi — an undercharged system drops on both sides, so this pattern means the refrigerant isn't getting past something. That's a restriction, and we found it by measuring rather than by swapping parts.

Airflow and doors before sealed systems

A large share of these calls are resolved with a condenser cleaning and a gasket, at a fraction of what a compressor diagnosis costs. We check the cheap causes first because that ordering saves you money.

Food-safe temperature is the standard, not 'cold'

We verify with calibrated instruments against the temperature the equipment is supposed to hold, and give you the reading in writing. Close enough is not a standard a health inspector accepts.

Scheduled around service hours

Line equipment can't come out of service at 7pm. We work early, late or between services, and we tell you honestly how long the unit will be down before we start.

We name installation and siting problems plainly

If a unit is failing because it was built into a cavity with no clearance, no repair is going to hold. We'd rather tell you that once than sell you the same repair three times.

Before you call.

My reach-in runs constantly but never gets cold enough. What is it?

Start with the condenser. In a working kitchen these coils pack with flour, grease and dust faster than anyone expects, and a blocked condenser cannot reject heat no matter how hard the compressor works. A cleaning resolves a substantial share of these calls without any parts at all.

My prep table rail is warm but the cabinet underneath is fine. Why?

That's a normal pattern and it's almost always airflow at the rail rather than a refrigeration fault. Overfilled pans, pans that aren't seated properly, blocked return air or a heat lamp too close will all push the rail out of food-safe range while the cabinet below reads correctly.

The glass doors on my merchandiser are fogged up constantly.

Usually the anti-condensate heater, not the seal. Glass-door units run a low-wattage heater around the glass specifically to prevent condensation, and when that circuit fails the doors fog permanently. We test the circuit before replacing any gasket.

Is commercial refrigeration repair different from residential?

Meaningfully, yes. Commercial equipment runs harder duty cycles, uses different components, and has to hold food-safe temperature verifiably rather than approximately. The diagnostic sequence and the parts channel are both different, which is why commercial calls go to technicians who do this work regularly.

Can you service equipment overnight or before opening?

Yes. Most of our commercial refrigeration work happens outside service hours, and we'd rather schedule around your covers than have a technician working the line during dinner.

Do you offer maintenance contracts for restaurant refrigeration?

Yes, and for a kitchen running several units it's the cheapest thing on the menu. Scheduled condenser cleaning, gasket checks and temperature verification prevent most of the emergency calls we'd otherwise be taking from you on a Friday night.
