Whirlpool repair
in the Bay Area
Whirlpool is the most repairable brand we work on, and that's not a compliment we hand out lightly. The designs are conventional, the parts are standardized and widely stocked, and the same handful of components account for most failures. When a Whirlpool breaks, the odds of finishing it on the first visit are as high as they get.

Common failures
What goes wrong on Whirlpool.
Lid switch or door lock fails
On top-loaders this is the classic no-start, no-spin fault, and it reads like a dead machine when it's actually a small switch. One of the least expensive repairs we do.
Drain pump jams on something small
Coins, buttons and socks. Extremely common, quick to clear, and the reason we always check the pump before anything more involved.
Motor coupler or belt wears out
Older top-loaders use a coupler that's deliberately designed to fail before the motor does. Replacing it is routine and far cheaper than the alternative it protects.
Dryer heating element burns through
The dryer tumbles but never gets hot. Common, well-stocked as a part, and usually finished the same visit.
Refrigerator defrost system stops working
Frost builds on the evaporator until airflow dies. The fridge slowly gets warmer while sounding completely normal.
Water inlet valve fails or restricts
Slow fills on washers and dishwashers, weak ice production on refrigerators — Bay Area hard water shortens the life of these valves noticeably.
How we approach it
What's different about servicing Whirlpool.
Parts are cheap and everywhere
Whirlpool's US market share means components are standardized and stocked. This is the brand where repair almost always beats replacement on pure economics.
Conventional design means faster diagnosis
No unusual architecture to work around. A technician who knows the platform finds the fault quickly, which keeps labour down.
One platform, several badges
Whirlpool also builds Maytag, KitchenAid, Amana and JennAir. Parts and diagnostic approach often carry across, which helps availability on all of them.
Older machines are still worth fixing
A fifteen-year-old Whirlpool with a failed pump is usually a straightforward repair, not a replacement conversation. We'll say so honestly.
Model lines we service
WTW and WFW washers, WED and WGD dryers, WDT and WDF dishwashers, WRF, WRS and WRT refrigerators, WFE and WFG ranges, plus Amana and JennAir equipment from the same group.
Service area
Whirlpool service across the Bay Area.
Same technicians, same warranty, same pricing rules, from San Francisco down to the South Bay and out to Marin.
Questions
Before you call.
Is a Whirlpool worth repairing?
More often than almost any other brand. Parts are inexpensive and widely available, so the repair-versus-replace maths usually favours fixing it, even on older machines.
My Whirlpool washer won't start at all. What is it?
On top-loaders, usually the lid switch. It's a small, inexpensive part that makes the whole machine look dead, and it's a same-visit fix.
Do you service Maytag, KitchenAid and Amana too?
Yes — all built by the same group, and we carry parts across the platform. Each has its own page for the specifics.
How much does Whirlpool repair cost?
It's generally at the lower end of what we quote, because the parts cost less than most brands. We diagnose first and put the number in writing before starting.
Can you fix a Whirlpool the same day?
Usually. Pumps, switches, elements and belts for this brand ride on the van, which is why first-visit completion rates are high here.
Do you work on Whirlpool gas dryers?
Yes. Gas work is done by technicians licensed for gas appliances, and the line is leak-tested before we leave.
