Failed bake element on electric ovens — visible as a coil that won't glow orange when the oven calls for heat.

Display shows an error code
Modern ovens code sensor, board and safety faults specifically. We read the code before opening anything up.
Oven runs consistently hot or cold
Usually a temperature sensor that's drifted out of calibration — sometimes fixable in minutes, not always a parts job.
Gas smell near the oven
Shut off the gas and call. A loose fitting or failing valve needs a leak test before the oven is used again.

Why it breaks down.
Self-clean cycles run boards and seals hard
The 800°F+ self-clean temperature is brutal on control boards, door seals and hinges — it's the single biggest driver of oven service calls.
Bake elements burn through with age
A resistive element doing the same job thousands of times eventually fails — usually visible as a break or blister in the coil.
Igniters weaken gradually on gas ovens
A gas igniter draws less current as it wears, until it can no longer pull enough amps to open the safety valve — the oven just won't light.
Temperature sensors drift out of calibration
Years of heat cycling can shift a sensor's reading by 20-30 degrees without any dramatic failure — just consistently off results.
Door seals compress and lose their grip
A gasket that's lost its seal lets heat escape, which shows up as slow preheats and uneven baking long before anything visibly breaks.
Control boards see repeated heat exposure
Boards mounted near the oven cavity absorb heat cycle after cycle, and that shortens their working life compared to boards elsewhere in the kitchen.

- Use self-clean sparinglyIt's hard on the electronics and seals. Manual cleaning costs an hour of your time and meaningfully extends the oven's working life.
- Check door seal contact with a paper testClose the door on a strip of paper and pull — resistance means a good seal, an easy slide means it's time to replace the gasket.
- Recalibrate before assuming a part is badMost ovens have a built-in calibration setting in the menu. A 20-degree offset is often user-fixable in under a minute.
- Keep the door seal and hinges free of grease buildupGrime on the gasket surface prevents a full seal just as much as physical wear does.
- Don't slam the oven doorRepeated slamming stresses the hinges and the door lock mechanism faster than normal use ever would.
- Have gas ovens leak-tested if you smell anything unusualTrust your nose over a wait-and-see approach — gas issues are the one category where early diagnosis really matters.

Sometimes it's just calibration, which takes minutes. We check calibration before quoting parts.
Do you repair wall ovens and double ovens?
Yes, including built-in and steam ovens. Pulling a wall oven safely takes two people, so mention it when booking.
Should I use the self-clean cycle?
Sparingly. The extreme heat is hard on boards, seals and hinges. Manual cleaning costs you an hour and saves the electronics.
How much does oven repair cost?
Depends on the part — a sensor or calibration issue is minor, a control board or dual-element double-oven job costs more. We quote in writing after diagnosis.
How fast can you get to a no-heat oven call?
Same-day in most cases when you call before early afternoon.
Do you work on gas ovens as well as electric?
Yes, both, including conversions between natural gas and propane using the manufacturer's kit.
