Viking repair
in the Bay Area

Viking essentially created the professional-style residential range, and its equipment is built accordingly — heavy gauge steel, high-output burners and commercial proportions in a domestic kitchen. That build quality is why plenty of Bay Area Vikings are twenty years old and still in daily use, and why repair is usually the right call rather than replacement.

Common failures

What goes wrong on Viking.

Burner igniter or spark module fails

High-output burners cycle their igniters hard. The burner clicks without lighting, and it's usually the igniter or module rather than the gas supply.

Oven runs off temperature

A drifting sensor produces consistently wrong results on equipment people bought specifically for cooking accuracy. Often fixable by recalibration alone.

Control board faults on older units

Twenty-year-old electronics eventually give up. We diagnose to the specific fault, because a single relay is often the real problem on boards this expensive.

Refrigeration condenser clogs

Built-in Viking refrigeration needs its condenser cleared periodically, and most owners have never been told that. The compressor runs hot and long until something downstream fails.

Door hinges sag under weight

These doors are heavy even by professional standards. Worn hinges let heat escape and throw baking off well before the sag is obvious.

Dishwasher drain pump or wash motor fails

Conventional failures on the dishwasher line, contained and generally finished the same visit.

On the job

Viking equipment we've worked on.

A full professional Viking range. Eight burners and a griddle means eight igniters, eight valves and a gas train that gets pressure tested before we close anything up.

How we approach it

What's different about servicing Viking.

Built heavy, and worth repairing far into its life

Viking equipment is steel-heavy and mechanically robust. A twenty-year-old range with a failed igniter is a straightforward repair, not a replacement conversation.

Older units need parts sourcing knowledge

Vikings stay in service a long time, which means we regularly work on models well out of production. Knowing where the parts still come from matters more here than on newer brands.

Professional gas output demands careful work

High-BTU burners and their gas trains are unforgiving of sloppy work. Every gas job gets pressure-tested before we close up.

Built-in refrigeration is serviced in place

Like other premium built-ins, Viking refrigeration is fitted into cabinetry and worked on where it stands rather than pulled out.

Model lines we service

Professional 5 and 7 Series ranges and rangetops, Tuscany series, built-in and freestanding refrigeration, column and undercounter units, wall ovens, dishwashers, professional ventilation and outdoor equipment.

Service area

Viking service across the Bay Area.

Same technicians, same warranty, same pricing rules, from San Francisco down to the South Bay and out to Marin.

Questions

Before you call.

Is a 20-year-old Viking worth repairing?

Usually yes. These were built heavy enough that a single component failure rarely signals the rest is about to follow. We'll tell you plainly if a specific model has aged out of parts support.

Can you get parts for older Viking models?

In most cases. Viking equipment stays in service a long time and the parts channel reflects that — we confirm availability at diagnosis rather than after.

My Viking burner clicks but won't light. What is it?

Almost always the igniter or the spark module. High-output burners work these components hard, and both are contained repairs.

Do you service Viking built-in refrigeration?

Yes, including in-cabinet service, sealed system work and panel alignment on integrated units.

Do you work on Viking outdoor grills and refrigeration?

Yes, including burner, igniter and outdoor refrigeration faults.

How much does Viking repair cost?

It depends heavily on the part — an igniter and a control board are very different jobs. We diagnose first and give you the number in writing.
