Common failures
What goes wrong on Maytag.
Lid lock fails on top-load washers
The most common Maytag call by a clear margin. The machine refuses to start or spin and looks completely dead, when the actual fault is the lock assembly telling the board the lid is open.
Drain pump blocked by debris
Universal to every washer brand, and Maytag is no exception. Quick to clear and inexpensive to fix.
Transmission wears on older top-loaders
Heavier machines put more load through the drive system. When the transmission goes on a genuinely old unit, that's the point where we'll walk you through replacement honestly.
Dryer heating element burns out
Drum turns, no heat. Stocked as a part and typically finished in the same visit.
Refrigerator defrost system fails
Frost accumulates on the evaporator and restricts airflow, warming the fresh food compartment while the unit sounds normal.
Door or lid switches wear from cycle count

Almost certainly the lid lock assembly. It's the single most common Maytag fault we see, and it makes a perfectly healthy machine look dead.
