GE repair
in the Bay Area

GE spans a wider range than any other brand we service — the same badge covers a basic top-freezer refrigerator and a Monogram built-in that competes with Sub-Zero. That matters for repair, because parts availability, cost and technique differ sharply between the tiers, and knowing which one you have shapes the whole conversation.

Common failures

What goes wrong on GE.

Control board faults

GE electronics are the most frequent cause we diagnose across the range. We test down to the specific fault rather than defaulting to replacing the whole board, which is often the difference between a modest repair and an expensive one.

Ice maker assembly stops producing

A very common GE refrigerator call. Usually the assembly or the fill valve rather than anything in the sealed system.

Oven igniter weakens on gas models

The igniter draws less current as it ages until it can no longer open the safety valve, and the oven simply stops lighting while everything else works.

Water inlet valve restricts

Bay Area hard water scales these up over the years, producing slow fills on laundry and dishwashers and weak ice on refrigerators.

Dryer heating element burns out

The drum turns and the timer runs, but nothing gets hot. Common, stocked, and generally a same-visit repair.

Defrost system fails on refrigerators

Frost builds on the evaporator coil, airflow drops, and the fresh food side warms up gradually while the unit sounds fine.

On the job

GE equipment we've worked on.

GE Monogram built-in refrigerator in a Bay Area kitchen
A Monogram built-in. Cabinetry-integrated refrigeration has to be serviced in place, and the condenser behind the grille is the first thing checked when it stops holding temperature.

A GE Profile double wall oven. Profile and Monogram sit at different tiers with different parts, so identifying the line from the model number comes before anything is ordered.

How we approach it

What's different about servicing GE.

Four tiers under one name

GE, Profile, Café and Monogram are genuinely different equipment. Monogram in particular is built-in, cabinetry-integrated and serviced much more like Sub-Zero than like a standard GE.

Board-level diagnosis saves real money

Because boards drive so many GE faults, it's worth testing properly. A single relay or connection is often the actual problem.

Parts availability is strong

GE volume in the US keeps common parts stocked and affordable across the mainstream lines.

Monogram needs cabinetry-aware access

Built-in Monogram refrigeration and ranges are fitted into millwork. Access and refit are part of the job, the same as any premium built-in.

Model lines we service

GE, GE Profile, Café and Monogram. GFW and GTW washers, GFD and GTD dryers, GDT and GDF dishwashers, GFE, GNE and PFE refrigerators, JGB, JB and PGB ranges, plus Monogram built-in refrigeration and professional ranges.

Service area

GE service across the Bay Area.

Same technicians, same warranty, same pricing rules, from San Francisco down to the South Bay and out to Marin.

Questions

Before you call.

What's the difference between GE, Profile, Café and Monogram?

Ascending tiers of the same brand. GE is the standard line, Profile adds features, Café is the design-led tier, and Monogram is built-in luxury equipment that competes with Sub-Zero and Wolf. We service all four.

My GE oven won't light but the burners work. Why?

Almost always a weakening igniter. It no longer draws enough current to open the gas safety valve, so the oven never lights even though everything looks fine.

Are GE control board repairs expensive?

They can be, which is exactly why we diagnose to the specific fault first. Often the failure is a single component on the board rather than the whole assembly.

Do you service Monogram built-in refrigeration?

Yes, including in-cabinet service and panel alignment on integrated units.

How fast can you get out for a GE repair?

Same-day in most cases when you call before early afternoon, with no-cooling refrigerator calls prioritized.

Do you work on GE gas ranges and dryers?

Yes. Gas appliances are handled by technicians licensed for gas work, and every gas connection is leak-tested before we leave.
