Will a better filter hurt my system?
It can, if the ductwork can't handle the added resistance. That's why we measure static pressure first rather than jamming in the thickest filter that fits.
Do portable air purifiers help during fire season?
Yes, in a single room. For the whole house, filtration at the HVAC system does far more per dollar.
How often should filters be changed?
One-inch filters every 60 to 90 days, deep media filters every 6 to 12 months. During heavy smoke, check monthly.
